In the diesel the ECU receives information from the temperature sensor of the coolant and the temperature sensor of the air and the ECU activates the relay of the heater. (The new systems heat the fuel).
When disconnecting these sensors creates infinite resistance which informs the ECU Low temperature.

In gasoline as Opel Astra G Z16se only the electro -ventilators jumps, the slowdown increase "Cold start" is not proven.
In the diesel to falsify the signal to the ECU to order the surge of heater. "In Peugeot they bridged a sensor to try that cold start."
