Honda has discovered its prototype electric car "Micro Commuter Prototype", an EV of reduced dimensions intended for small distances. This vehicle has been developed considering the regulations for micro vehicles that are currently being discussed in Japan and Europe.

Using vehicles based on this prototype model, Honda will begin product tests in Japan in 2013. This test will verify the potential of the vehicle in different uses, including the daily coverage of small distances for families with small children, as well as for older people, food services at home and Car Sharing.

Uses of the Honda Micro Communer prototype

The concept "Micro Commuter" was first introduced in the Tokyo Motor Show of 2011. This prototype model was conceived to accommodate a driver and two children.

The adoption of the variable design platform positions components such as the battery, the engine and the control unit under the ground and in the rear space to concentrate the driving functions of the vehicle in a compact space. This made it relatively easy to develop and produce an inner body with the capacity to meet the various uses and needs of customers.

In addition, this car allows you to use your own tablet to access the control of functions such as the measurement screen, the browser, the audio system and the Back-UP camera. On the other hand, the vehicle allows the tablet battery to be loaded using the solar cells mounted on the vehicle roof.

On the other hand, through collaboration with the Honda Smart Home (HSHS) system, Honda aims to verify the CO2 reduction effect of this vehicle not only as an EV vehicle, but as a home battery.

With products such as this Honda signs its commitment to active research and development of technologies and products.
