The new Toyota Auris offers a bold and elegant design, a higher quality interior, and improvements in driving dynamics, in its aerodynamics, in its weight, in CO2 emissions, as well as the combined hybrid system Full Hybrid.

Improved structure

The total length of the new Auris has increased 30 mm (maintaining a wheelbase of 2,600mm.), As well as the front and rear blasting that have increased by 15 mm.

On the other hand, the frontal area of the auris has been reduced by 4 % with respect to the current model and its height has been reduced by 55 mm, where 45mm are occupied by the cabin and the ground height 10 mm. Combined, these changes offer considerable aerodynamic advantages, and contribute to greater fuel savings and better driving dynamics.

The generalized use of high strength steel in the body's structure has helped reduce the total weight of the new auris up to 40 kg, while the total height reduction has also reduced the center of gravity. The height of the seats has been reduced 40 mm, and the steering wheel inclination angle, 2 degrees, which creates a more attractive driving position with a low waist.

The new design of the front seats increases the space for the knees in the rear seat 20 mm, and the rear doors opening has been widened. The trunk length has increased 50 mm, and the width of the rear gate, 90 mm. With the added flexibility of a two -level trunk tray and folding seats with 60:40 division, all versions, including hybrid, offer a greater trunk capacity, 360 liters.

More dynamic exterior design
The new image of Toyota combines the design style of the Under Priority Grill ("lower priority") with the design concept Keen Look ("sophisticated image") of the headlights and the diurnal circulation lights (DRL, Daytime Running Light) LED, which confer the Auris Audacity and a remarkably more powerful presence on the road.

The Under Priority design incorporates a lower trapezoidal grill framed in the bumper, and a smaller upper grill that
occupies all the space between the new optical groups. Below the fluid low line of the hood, dominated by a new emblem
of Toyota, larger and more below than its predecessor, the upper leather incorporates a central chrome embellished bar that extends visually to the headlight groups to accentuate the width of the vehicle.

In the front optical groups, narrower and with a more marked style, the horizontal chrome bar flows towards a form of “eyebrow” that accentuates the exceptionally meager distance between the hood and the BI-HID projectors (High Intensity Discharge) or halogens. The innovative structure of the front headlights also incorporates daytime circulation lights (DRL, Daytime Running Lights) LED.

Flanged by the burned fog lights surrounded by chrome rings, the big lower grill combines a bright black finish with the lower chrome detail of the edge aleron, which also accentuates the width of the new auris and underlines its presence.

In profile, under an inclined windshield that flows without jumps towards a new and lower staggered roof line that reduces aerodynamic resistance, an equally radical design change implies the elongation of the side windows on three panels above a more powerful ascending waist line.

The outer mirrors have been helped in the window area, the hidden pillars have a bright black finish and, in combination with the chrome embellishment of the waistline, the most fluid and dynamic treatment of the rear pillars further accentuates the silhouette of the new auris, lower, elegant and sports.

The soil height of the new Toyota Auris has been reduced 10 mm, so that the distance between the steps of the wheels and the tires and the wheels are more aligned with the body, which further accentuates the most slender and perfect appearance of the new vehicle. For the wheels, you can choose between a new 15 ”and 16” beautifying design and 16 ”and 17” alloy wheels.

On the back, the widest opening of the rear gate has more powerful concave and convex surfaces. It is topped by an integrated roof spoiler and flanked by the new surround design of the optical groups, which reinforces the shape of the rear fin and the moon, as well as the added force of the fenders on the steps of the rear wheels. The new bumper, with integrated reflectors at the ends, reinforces the wide, stable and sports posterior image of the new Auris.

The new Auris will be available in a range of ten exterior colors, four of which are new: gray, bronze, dark steel and blue. Pearl target is exclusive to Full Hybrid combined hybrid models.

Aerodynamics
The new exterior design causes the Auris to have excellent aerodynamic performance, which contributes to improve
management stability and reduce fuel consumption.

In combination with the 55 mm decrease in the total height, the 4 % reduction of the projected frontal area considerably reduces the wind resistance of the vehicle. Giving continuity to the low and fluid line of the hood and the pronounced inclination of the windshield, the stepped profile of the ceiling reduces aerodynamic resistance. For its part, the rear wing is fully integrated in the back line of the roof and connects without jumping with the rear pillar to minimize the turbulence of the air that flows back from the vehicle.

In addition to reducing the height of the soil 10 mm, the same attention has been paid to guarantee the most direct possible air flow below the new auris. The lower chassis incorporates a front wing, lower shock absorber, lower engine cover, front deflectors, lower covers in the ground center, on the sides of the tank and on the back of the soil and rear deflectors to maximize aerodynamic efficiency.

The aerodynamic performance of the lower chassis is enhanced thanks to the placement of vertical fins in the lower roofs of the center and the rear of the ground, which allows the air to flow even better below the vehicle and gives rise to better handling and greater stability at high speed.

Following the extensive aerodynamic measures, the new auris resistance coefficient has been reduced from CD 0.292 to only CD 0.28.

More uniform and higher quality interior design
The new design, cleaner, incorporates more daring forms, excellent functionality and high quality materials.

The dashboard combines a marked sensation of horizontality to reinforce the width and amplitude of the front of the cabin, with a disposition of the instrumentation and the different more ergonomic and driver -centered buttons.

In the new control picture, the simple and clear design of two or three spheres presents the needles and blank numbers. All buttons use the same typography, and both the control pictures and the central console are backlit in light blue to transmit a premium image and a complete visual harmony.

To strengthen the sensation of visual coordination in the new interior, the rings of the indicators, the central group, the embellisants of the transmission tunnel, the controls of the air conditioner and the sound equipment and the doors shooters have a high quality satin metal finish.

The ventilation grilles, the sound equipment panel, the transmission tunnel, the steering wheel and the change lever are finished with a chrome paint. In the upper versions, the dashboard also incorporates a leather finish.

The sensory quality and visual harmony of the new interior are enhanced with the improved texture of the cabin finishes, paying special attention to the texture of all the surfaces with which the occupants come into contact.

The upper surface of the control box and that of the doors at shoulder height are finished with soft touch plastic materials, and the pillars of the cabin are clad in fabric. The knob of the gear lever has a new design, and the steering wheel is upholstered in maximum quality leather with a baseball style seam. Both the upper as an assortments and those of the doors have a finishing of a gentle granulated texture, and the doors are padded.

With a greater route and more height adjustment, the new design of the seats offers excellent comfort. As standard at the Style finish, the new development seat offers an additional high level of lateral support.

Live (basic) and Active (medium) seat seats are upholstered with high quality fabric; The Style (Deportivo) finish seats incorporate red panels. As for the lounge finish (superior), the seats are covered with black velvet with authentic leather reinforcements. A black leather upholstery is also available as an option in Lounge (upper) finish models, while hybrid models offer the exclusive ice leather option.

The new Auris will be available with a new black interior color combination with matt textures. Authentic leather matte grain is created by combining a geometric pattern of points with a granulated leather texture.

The practical nature of the new Auris becomes evident in its functional characteristics and its generous storage space.

Thus, it has a gloveard, a holder, hangers, a carrier, four carriers and four bearts, a sliding armor in the central console with carriers, space for saving small objects on the dashboard and in the back of the central console, three 12 -volt shots and an external entrance of two -level trunk.

Improved driving dynamics
The new Toyota Auris range incorporates improvements in the stiffness of the body, suspension, direction, driving position and NVH characteristics, to offer drivers a more comfortable and dynamic experience.

The generalized use of high strength steel in the body's structure has helped reduce the total weight of the new auris up to 40 kg. In addition, the total height of the vehicle has reduced the center of gravity, which improves the stability of the vehicle at high speed and agility in the curves. This also allows a reduction in flexibility rates and the diameter of the stabilizer bar, which helps improve the comfort, body control and steering response.

The front Macpherson suspension has been reviewed to combine a comfort with stability and a good address response.
1.33 -liter gasoline motor models and 1.4 -liter diesel have torsion bar rear suspension, while 1.6 -liter gasoline motor models, 2.0 -liter diesel and combined hybrid combined Full Hybrid assemble a double triangle system behind.

The electric assisted address (EPS, Electric Power Steering) has also improved. The steering column is more rigid to ensure a linear sensitivity of the direction; A new EPS control eliminates changes in the direction force to improve linearity and the high demultiplication ratio makes a great response from the management possible. In short, these revisions provide the vehicle with a more direct and faster response in the turns to increase the agility of the vehicle.

The substantial improvement of NVH levels allows the new Toyota to offer a quieter march, supported by the acoustic insulation of the engine compartment, the steps of the front wheels and the dashboard.

Efficient gasoline and diesel engines

The average CO2 emissions of the new Auris is 115 g/km, which represents an additional average reduction with respect to the previous generation.

The key lies in the improvements introduced in the engine, which now allows you to choose between a
improved full hybrid combined hybrid system and two gasoline engines and two diesel.

VVT-I DUAL 1.33 L
equipped with the innovative “Stop & Start” technology, the 1.33 liter gasoline engine has double intelligent variable valve adjustment (VVT-I, Valve Timing-Intelligent variable) and a high compression ratio, from 11.5: 1, which increases the thermal efficiency of the engine. Generates 73 kW/99 hp DIN and a maximum torque of 128 Nm at 3,800 rpm. It has a fuel consumption from 5.4 l/100 km and CO2 emissions from 127 g/km.

VALVEMATIC GASOLINE ENGINE 1.6 L
VALVEMATIC carries the VVT-I technology one step further, adding an opening and duration control to the variable adjustment of the intake valve. In this way the volume and speed of the input air is better managed - and, consequently, the combustion process, to develop more power with less fuel consumption, and reduce CO2 emissions. The adoption of the Valvematic system to a greater extent reduces mechanical friction and pumping losses in light loading conditions, to achieve
even lower fuel consumption.

The 1.6 -liter engine Valvematic develops 97 kW/132 hp DIN and a maximum torque of 160 Nm at only 4,400 rpm. If it is equipped with manual transmission, the unit has a fuel consumption in combined cycle of 5.9 l/100 km, and generates
CO2 emissions of just 138 g/km, which is a reduction of 0.7 l/100 km and 12 g/km, respectively. Multiprive S transmission further reduces fuel consumption and emissions, 5.7 l/100 km and 134 g/km, respectively.

D-4D diesel engine 1.4 L
Available with six-speed manual transmission or multimode transmission, 1.4-liter D-4D engine develops 66 kW/90 hp DIN and a maximum torque of 205 Nm at only 1,800 rpm.

A new two -step hydraulic control valve on the distribution chain cover has been installed, which has the advantage of reducing friction when the hydraulic pressure is low opening and closing the overpressure valve depending on the driving conditions. The engine heating time has minimized thanks to the installation of a new refrigerant bypass system that helps reduce the thermal losses of the refrigerant during starting.

New generation piezoelectric injectors control fuel and injection adjustment more accurately. The high speed reaction of piezoinjectors make multiphase injection at high speed. The result is that the degree of expansion of combustion is reduced, which is more complete in the combustion chamber, which allows further reduce particle emissions, NOX and CO2.

This, in combination with superior Common-rail injection pressures, 160 MPA, results in shorter injection times, which offers a faster engine response and lower levels of fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. If it is equipped with manual transmission and “Stop & Start” technology, Unit 1.4 D-4D 90 Improved has a combined cycle consumption of 3.8 l/100 km, and generates CO2 emissions of just 99 g/km, which is a reduction of 0.4 l/100 km and 10 g/km, respectively.

Diesel engine 2.0L 2.0-
liter D-4D turbod. Among the improvements of the
lubrication and cooling circuit, are a two -stage pressure oil pump with improved oil injection, an optimized water pump with a lower water flow, and a double camera oil crankcase to improve the engine heating speed.

Exhaust emissions have been reduced thanks to the control of ignition spark plugs and the improvements of the structure and coating of the DPF.

The use of a resin cylinder head, the oil radiator support and the water duct reduce the weight of the engine in 3KG. The decrease in friction, by adopting a low friction vacuum pump, a low friction distribution chain and a low viscosity oil reduce fuel consumption. In addition, combustion improvement, thanks to the new concave form of the piston and the new ignition control strategy, has substantially reduced the engine NVH level.

As a consequence, the engine is quieter, the developed torque is superior and CO2 emissions have been reduced by 19 %, from 138 to 112 g/km in the combined cycle. Fuel consumption has also dropped from 5.2 to 4.3 l/100 km in the combined cycle.

Multimode transmission
available in diesel version 1.4 D-4D 90 of the new Auris, Multimode is an automated manual transmission with a totally automatic mode of change and without clutch pedal. It allows the driver to choose between two modes: one totally automatic or one manual sequential, with change cams on the sides of the steering wheel.

If you select E (economic), m (manual) or r (back), the vehicle can slowly advance as a conventional automatic. In E mode, the vehicle automatically changes to maximize fuel savings. If the is selected is (sports), the change will be delayed to a higher gear to a higher regime, to offer a more sporty driving style.

Multiprive S
Available in the Valvematic 1.6 gasoline version of the new Auris, Multidrive S is a continuously variable transmission with a totally automatic continuous change or a 7 -speed sequential sport mode.

In automatic mode, the silent operation and the fuel consumption of the system are optimized, precisely adapting the transmission to the motor at all times by controlling the accelerator pedal angle, the vehicle speed and the braking force.

In Sport mode, the system response and direct engine control is optimized. The 7 -speed CVT staggered transmission presents a short relationship when rising and a direct sensitivity by reducing the march, braking and decelerating. The Sport mode also has precise control in the curves. When detecting deceleration, the system reduces the march and applies the motor brake to attend the braking force. Halfway, the system suspends the change of march if a lateral force due to acceleration is detected. When leaving the curve, the predictive logic system of march reduction controls the system to ensure that the optimal demultiplication ratio is selected for the required acceleration level.

Specific hybrid design
The Auris Hybrid shares the dynamic changes of the outer style and the extensive improvements of the interior introduced in the new Auris, however both outside and inside it incorporates exclusive details of the hybrid.
