Do you remember that a few days ago I told you that on EBAY they were going to auction the first Volvo FH manufactured in series?
Well, the day came, and to everyone the offer the offer amounted to € 150,000, exceeding its market price! The raised will be donated to Star for Life.
The bid was made by Jean-Pierre Ducournau, founder of Ducournau Transports in France, who has a fleet of more than 300 Volvo trucks.
"I am delighted to have won this bid. Already in the mid-70s, I was the first in southern France to have the first Volvo F12, and for many decades, I have been supporting different beneficial campaigns," says Jean-Pierre Ducournau.
The auction website has attracted about 165,000 visitors, and 35 stosers from all over Europe made more than 95 offers for the new Volvo FH during the ten days that the auction lasted on EBAY. From the beginning it was learned that the winning bid was high, since it only took one day to overcome the market price.
"It fills us with pride that there are so many people willing to pay so much money for the first new Volvo FH. This says a lot, not only about the value of the truck as a single piece of collector but also about its attractiveness in general," says Claes Nilsson, president of Volvo Trucks.
The proceeds of the vehicle auction will be donated to Star for Life, a unique educational program whose objective is to stop the propagation of HIV among the youth population of South Africa. The goal of Star for Life is to motivate young people to create in their dreams and in their future, and help them live fully without the presence of AIDS in their lives. Volvo Trucks finances the program in 16 schools in the Durban and Johannesburg area.
In the spring of 2013, Jean-Pierre Ducournau will be invited to deliver in person the proceeds to the school chosen in a ceremony that will be held in South Africa. "It is a pleasure to help these children," adds Jean-Pierre Ducournou.
The auction began on September 19 and was open for ten days for bidders throughout Europe, including Russia, Türkiye and Israel.
