Butterfly box Nissan Micra 1.0 year 97

My query is the following, I have a Nissan Micra 1.0 gasoline of the year 97- Model K11, and it is giving me pulls and it is difficult for him to start, once hot is going well. The mechanic says that it is possibly the butterfly box "that I ignore what it is" and that you have to change it.
Is there any possibility of repairing it for myself? The economy of my home is very weak and I can't afford a workshop.
