Manual-Mecanica response on the electronic Chevrolet S10
Hello,

there are several points that you have to check in that diesel engine with Common Rail:

1) You have to walk the electric pump that is in the tank. A ràpida verification is to put in touch and listen if it makes noise; Another way would be to remove the pipe that reaches the high pressure pump and give contact to see the flow that arrives.

2) need to see with a scanner the pressure that raises on the injection ramp: if in start it does not reach more than 50 MPa, the pulse of the injectors is not enabled and the engine does not start.

- For the lack of pressure on the ramp you have to check:
- Return of fuel of the injectors, there are usually 1 or 2 injectors with greater return than the others and this generates the drop in pressure on the injection ramp.
- Safety vàlvula at the ends of the injection ramp. It is a meconnic vàlvula that only opens if there was an excess of pressure, therefore if it is fine, it should never return fuel for this vàlvula.
- Valvula regulating flow that is found in the high pressure pump. If this Vàlvula is locked in closed position or observed for dirt does not raise pressure on the ramp.

Well this are the basic controls for the typical failures that that engine has when it does not start, I hope it has been ùile and luck with the truck.

Many gratcias for the Chuky data, the last one as I try the return in the injectors, I have to take them out and take them to the firefighter or can be measured with a manometro

To measure the return of the injectors you need 4 equal containers, if possible if they are better graduated tests or what you have to allow you to compare the volumes of return of each injector.

In the upper part of the injector's head is the return, from you take out a hose to one of the containers. Repeat the same for each injector.

Then you start for 20 seconds (the limit of time is not to spoil the starter engine) and you set the return volumes that each container has. If the volume of the liquid is little and the reading is made, you can continue to start as many times as you have a reliable reading of the return volume.

If you have very uneven problems with the injectors. A 5% difference (as a percentage of the total volume) between the maximum and minimum, is considered OK.

Luck

Sorry, the entire previous explanation is leaving the injectors mounted into the engine.

Do not disassemble anything from the injection system, only the hoses of the injectors.
