greetings to all .. my question is that I have a great Cheroke Laredo 4.0L truck in Liniea 97 simple. A cylinder 6 piston was broken as I did not find in the Yonke of the same year of the truck I found a 92 xj Cherokee when taking out the pistons of that truck I realized that I had thicker pistons is the same diameter of the cylinder height of connecting rod height that bought a piston to measure the blike of my great Cherokee 97 It turns out that it can have my fear. (Of course, changing the 6 pistons from 92 to 97 with their connecting rods) Differences of the piston
(barefoot vernie)

piston 97: very thin the pistons thin rings

Piston 92: thick pistons and thick rings

but are the same diameter both
I think that the most reinforced xjs for the cheeks cheese see their comments on respect about a problem in this regard.

Manual-Mecanica Response on the Re: Cherokee 97 to 92 Doubt Differences
In principle, the lighter pistons with finer segments are built to "lighten" the engine turn and reduce friction between cylinder and piston, although this has a lower useful life than in the case of pistons with thick segments.

The problem comes because the crankshaft is counter -weed to carry some pistons and cranks with a certain weight, and if we lightened pistons, the counterweights of the crankshaft will be excessive, so that vibrations will occur in the operation of the engine.

Possibly the 97 engine delivered some more power than that of 92, but I don't think it was a big difference. (To tell the truth, neither has a great power for the displacement it has).

On the other hand, I am in favor of asking for motor equipment in the housing houses, since they are totally new and proven and most importantly. They are guaranteed for the engine to which they are intended.

All the best.

Friend I advise you to put the original pistons that that engine brought. I am not quite sure but I think that your model uses hyperautetic pistons and although the others will undoubtedly function the useful life of the engine is very affected, moreover, I have seen that that engine serves all the pistons of previous models such as even those of the 70s and that they seek to stop tricking the engines because there are some that use up to 4 rings and others that you use the oil ring on the skirt of the piston. Anyway, if a car is for normal use, it is always better the original of course if it is achieved ...

Excuse me for the late answer.
I argue to put 92 pistons since in a machining (revent) they told me that there are no problems since the followed it takes him and they told him a valantada weighing the pistons and they said that it is inside the parameters. In which I have a month working and I still have not given problems the machine I am well serenita was changed new:

Std

rings
metals
of
the

Elebas Std Tree Safe, the others were changed all the cellos of the water
pistons of 92 xj
and the other rods the houses (spoons) are of the same engine
I hope it will last for about 3 years and if it thunders the engine I will be given to know and greasy for their comments for their comments
