In general, there are several consequences in diesel engines such as what you mention, bent valves, breakage of their guides, break and even cams and pistons ... I recommend the valve cover and take a look, then disassemble the frontal part replenish the belt and have an ignition test (clear that respecting the adjustment marks ... camshaft, injection pump and crankshaft) engines that do not suffer any damage ... luck
