The NV200 and E-NV200, a new generation compact van, presented for the first time in Japan and Europe in 2009, will be the new official taxi of Barcelona.
This van has had very good acceptance thanks to its wide interior space, an unbeatable fuel economy, an excellent driving and an attractive design, and was awarded the International Van of the Year 2010 Prize. Likewise, it has been chosen by New York City as a new generation exclusive taxi and has been presented as a new and bold version of the Black CAB for the city of London.
Both Nissan's proposal for the London NV200 taxi and the Barcelona model are based on the NV200, which is currently manufactured in the Nissan plant in the free zone, which is a clear demonstration of Nissan's commitment to continue investing in its production plants in Barcelona and continue moving forward in technological development and the creation of new vehicle models.
The future E-NV200, a 100% electric taxi
E-NV200 will be manufactured at the Free Zone of Barcelona from the end of 2013 with an investment of 100 million euros and will mean the creation of more than 700 new jobs. The Barcelona plant will be the world center of this product, which means that vehicles will export to everyone.
Barcelona Capital of the electric vehicle
Nissan's commitment to the electric vehicle reinforces the strategy of the Barcelona City Council to boost sustainable mobility in the city and its metropolitan area and convert the electric vehicle into an important engine of economic development and competitiveness. Thus, to the automobile industrial tradition of the Barcelona area, of which Nissan is part, the hatching of an important nucleus of companies and initiatives linked to technological innovation and the development of electro mobility is added. The city, likewise, is making an important commitment to deploy recharge infrastructure, with more than 250 public points distributed throughout the city, to ensure that the city is prepared for when citizens massively opt for sustainable mobility of zero emissions. This bet will be reinforced with the celebration in 2013 of the Electric Vehicle Symposium, EVS, the World Reference Congress of the Sector.
NV200, a modern transport option
The Barcelona NV200 taxi model will be available for purchase from January 2, 2013, providing a modern transport option for the 10,500 taxi licenses holders and the more than 225,000 people traveling by taxi in the city every day. Currently in development, the Nissan E-NV200 model will contribute an alternative for world, totally electric and zero emissions from 2014.
Barcelona's NV200 taxi has a 1.5 DCI engine of 110 hp and will offer a consumption of 5.5 l/100 km in a unique combination of the best fuel in its class (in combined driving), with an exceptional interior space with capacity for 4 passengers with five large suitcases, all in a compact body of 4.40 m.
The vehicle has side sliding doors to facilitate both the climb and the low passenger, doors that are also much safer for pedestrians, cyclists and other vehicles, since they do not represent an obstacle on the road.
Nissan contributes to the development of infrastructure
since May 2012, Nissan has delivered 400 fast loaders for electric cars to several operators throughout Europe. These units have been developed by Nissan and meet the Chademo requirements while reducing the size and price by half. In Spain a total of 42 units will be installed. The first unit was installed in Vitoria (Basque Country). Nissan's objective is to use these new fast -charged points, strategically located, to create the embryo of a future national fast charging network that extends the scope and flexibility of use of electric vehicles.
