Cruze 5P will offer customers the style and versatility of a five -door car, while presenting the excellent qualities associated with the award -winning Cruze Sedan.

The exterior of Cruze 5P evokes contained kinetic movement and energy. The main design features that enhance this impression are the agile roof silhouette, the slightly inclined shoulder shoulder line and the front headlights with sharp housings as an arrow. The proportions of the 5P, its front and rear cantilever and the sides of the body, inclined inward when you look at the profile car, reinforce the firm and safe pose of the car.

«Cruze 5P differs from many of its most static contest by its sports profile and its wide and determined pose. We were fortunate to work from the excellent proportions of Cruze Sedan, ”says Martin Love, design director of Chevrolet Cruze.

Like the Cruze Sedan, the 5P has a frontal lodged appearance, which is achieved with its double divided grill horizontally and the double headlights. Going to the rear, the spoiler mounted on the roof and a subtle dividing line in the pillar, which extends to the base of the rear moon, reinforces the visual expression of speed. The rear light of lights, designed taking care of every detail, helps to give the Cruze 5P with a high -end appearance.

Interior space

Cruze is characterized by the fluid disposal of the cabin, the wide available space and great versatility. Echoing elements present in the emblematic sports Trolet Corvette, Cruze presents a double cabin. It is separated by an integrated central column that flows to the central console. The central zone of the dashboard manufactured in granulated technical fabric with protein vinyl, combines with the instrument panel with LED backlights, elements that provide a feeling of relaxed comfort.

The capacity for loading is 413 liters with the seats in normal position, and the rear passengers enjoy 974 mm of space at the height of the head. If the rear seats are dejected in a 60/40 proportion, the load volume reaches 883 liters. Various storage spaces in the double glove compartment, the central console, the pockets of the doors and the backs serve to save all types of everyday objects, such as books, compact discs and small laptops.

All drivers of a Cruze (in LTZ version), whether sedan or 5p of the 2012 model year, will enjoy an update navigation system using a digital memory card (SD). Among technology or comfort equipment is also:

Efficient motorization options and excellent tensile levels and dynamic behavior

Under the hood you can choose between three engines: two of gasoline and one diesel. In addition, at the beginning of 2012 a new 1.7 -liter diesel engine will be offered. All engines are 4 -cylinder units with double camshaft, 16 valves and multipoint fuel injection or, in the case of diesel, common duct technology.

1.6 and 1.8 -liter gasoline engines have variable distribution. The modifications of the 2011 model year include new admission collectors in both units. The motor train engineers have further raised the 1.6 -liter engine compression ratio and have adjusted the 1.8 -liter engine control calibration.

At 6,400 rpm, the 1.6 -liter gasoline engine combined with a manual transmission offers a power of 124 hp. The 1.8 -liter engine offers 141 hp at 6,200 rpm. Its maximum torque is 176 Nm to 3,800 rpm. Both engines consume 6.6 liters per 100 kilometers. The 1.6 -liter model emits 153 g/km of CO2, while 1.8 liter gasoline produces 155 g/km.

The 2 -liter turbodiasel available in all the new Cruze 5P and on the Cruze sedan of 2011, one of the most powerful engines of the compact vehicles segment, has greater peak pressure in the combustion chamber and a synchronization system of the distribution chain.

Among the main characteristics of this engine are excellent acceleration, an impressive torque of 360 Nm at 1,750 rpm and compliance with the regulations on Euro 5 emissions (147 gm/km of CO2). It reaches 163 hp at 3,800 rpm and a tip speed of 205 km/h when combined with a manual transmission. Requires 8.5 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h. All engines offer the option of a manual transmission, or six -speed automatic.

Its great width of track, the structure of the body and the advanced suspension system are essential to enjoy the excellent dynamic and traction benefits of the Cruze 5P. The Cruze 5P has a monocasco structure (BFI) manufactured with high -resistance steel that is among the most rigid segment.

The BFI monocoque offers an optimal platform to achieve agile and great response driving, and still relaxed, offered by Cruze 5P. It also includes measures designed to cushion noise and vibrations.

The McPherson front suspension has front modules with lateral load compensation that have some docks to which a special design has been given. Hydraulic bushings effectively absorb the loads produced by the road and provide a high degree of insulation with the vehicle running. The design of the rear suspension, with semi -rigid axis and torsion bar, helps to reduce the center of gravity and also save weight and enjoy a uniform control of the fall angle.

The car includes hydraulic assisted direction, which offers the driver excellent stability in line.

Security, a maximum priority

Both in terms of materials and in manufacturing mode, Cruze 5P represents an important improvement against the previous compact of this Chevrolet segment. The structure of Cruze 5P is practically identical to that of the Cruze Sedan, which obtained a EuroCap five -star rating.

Various electronic systems have been included to avoid accidents. In an emergency situation, the electronic stability control (ESC), the traction control system (TCS) and the anti -lock brake system (ABS) with electronic braking distribution (EBD) help the driver control the vehicle and to successfully perform maneuvers that require acceleration or braking.

One of the main characteristics of the 5P architecture in terms of security is the monocoque on which the Cruze 5P is built, which consists of a single welded unit made of full length beams, plates and cash sections. The bars of the doors, made of ultra -resistant steel, offer excellent protection in case of lateral impact.

The six airbags and the five three -point safety belts are controlled using the sensor and diagnosis module (SDM) of the car, a device linked to the sensors located in the front bumper and the Pilar B. The children's safety chairs can be fixed by the ISOFIX system.

In order to reduce the risk of driver injuries in case of an accident, the folding pedal set is retracted in case of moderate or strong impact. On the other hand, the hood design offers more space between it and the engine, which largely reduces the possibility that a pedestrian between direct contact with the motor block. The bumper system has also been configured to reduce the possibility that pedestrians suffer injuries caused by the structural components of the vehicle.

The launch in European markets will begin in the summer of 2011.
