ŠKODA has participated from July 5 to 7 in the Alpino Rally Silvretta Classic Rally with the ŠKODA 1100 OHC. It is a convertible competition vehicle that Škoda only built two units in the 50s. In total, only four ŠKODA 1100 OHC models were built, two closed and two convertibles.
The ŠKODA 1100 OHC was developed in the years 1956 and 1957 as the successor model of Škoda 1101 Sport. In 1958, the Czech pilot Miroslav Fousek debuted with the car in the Mladá Boleslav circuit and won the race. Then other victories would arrive in local races.
The ŠKODA 1100 OHC weighs 550 kilos and is propelled by a four -cylinder in line engine with a cylindrated 1,089 cm3 and two Weber carburetors. The engine is original of the ŠKODA 440. Delives 92 hp to 7700 rpm and has a maximum speed of about 200 km/h.
Since its premiere in 1998, it is no longer possible to imagine the calendar of the most important classic rallys without the Silvretta Classic in the mountain alpine valley. The Alps road tests does not request maximum speed, but the maximum precision, so the models of the war have the same options to win the absolute title as the younger vehicles. The spectators could enjoy a real exhibition of automobile beauties. Luxurious convertible from the 30s shared prominence with legendary competition cars or daily use vehicles of the 70s and 80s.
At present
in recent years, Škoda 1100 OHC has already been present in several classic rallies, as in the Coppa d'Iro in the Dolomitas mountains of Italy, in 2008.
