The 2012 edition of GT Academy is heading at its end. Between today June 30 and tomorrow the Spanish final will be held at the Gamelab 2012 facilities and will bring together the 32 best players in the classification phase. The first winner of the GT Academy, the Spanish Lucas Ordoñez will be in the final, along with Kazunori Yamauchi, creator of the Gran Turismo® saga.

On June 24 the online phase ended. After the final challenge a qualifying table was developed with all the results of each region. Only the 16 best players in this phase obtained their place to participate in the Spanish final. 1,066,768 candidates around the world were discharged to seek the classification, from them 830,000 belong to European countries, and no less than 147,000 are Spanish.

The rest of Barcelona participants got their classification during the last International Motor Show in Madrid. Hundreds of passionate from the motor world visited the GT Academy stand at the Madrid fair to get a position in the national final. Only the best 15 managed to qualify and next weekend they will fight for the victory in Gamelab 2012.

The remaining place that grants the right to participate in the Spanish final of GT Academy was delivered in brand Sports Café last week. After an intense fight in the Nurburgring circuit on board the Nissan 370z GT Academy (Tunned version), the best corridor received the direct pass for the final.

These 32 applicants will have to demonstrate their skills as a virtual and real pilot on June 30 and July 1 in Barcelona. Among all of them, only the three best will achieve the European final. This phase will be held in the mythical British Silverstone circuit during the month of August and will bring together the most skilled and fast in the entire continent.

The precursor of GT Academy, Kazunori Yamauchi will take advantage of his presence in Barcelona to be close to the finalists. The Japanese developer is a great fan of car competition, so he will be very interested in knowing in the first person the passion of competitors and their sensations piloting a Nissan GTR.

Lucas Ordonez, winner of GT Academy in 2008, will also be present at this decisive moment. The young Nissan pilot is an example of the success that the GT Academy driving program is having and his presence in the Spanish final will be a motivation for the 32 applicants. Lucas Ordoñez has been the pilot who has achieved more successes after his victory in this contest, the Madrid has participated in the most important resistance races with Nissan, highlighting his second position in the LMP2 category in the 24 hours of Le Mans last year.
