Rare among the rare, if there is something that does not make this car is to go unnoticed. This is the flatmobile, it is on the website of this peculiar 44 cm high vehicle created by Perry Watkins that could be seen in the Essen motor hall (Germany). It is the least height car that can be legally driven and has become a model with a hole in the peculiarities pages of mechanics.
It is distinguished by being the vehicle with the lowest height that can be legally driven by roads. It moves thanks to an internal combustion engine that incorporates a turbine (based on the Holset 685) turbocharger located in the rear of the car that works at 98,500 rpm thanks to use as a high pressure compressed propane fuel.
Everything is done by hand: from the turbine itself to the chassis and the decorative details remembers the Batmobile.
On its website http://www.flatmobile.co.uk you can see several sections, including: the construction phases, the explanation of how the turbine was incorporated, technical specifications ... and an interesting section of images and videos. In this we can see a large number of videos in which it is demonstrated, for example, what it cost to operate the turbine without burning the car.
One of the curiosities we discover when we sail online is that it is not the first time that Perry makes such a vehicle. In its 'history' section it makes a small review of some unique vehicles that it has created as a 'car-torre' or the occasional vehicle also very low. {YouTube} y72Ctgvmvgq {/YouTube}
