Mercedes surprises again with the first sport developed by Mercedes AMG, who will go out in the spring of 2010. Among its wonderful qualities, we find the autoblocant differential, which is responsible for optimal motor. With aluminum as star material in its construction, this sport is presented in four types of staggering for the change of marches, where the driver's taste and his choice will come into play.

The German brand Mercedes Benz presents a sport born to fly: the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG. The Super Deportivo Passionate with its single technology load: body and aluminum chassis with doors in the gaviota wing, AMG 6.3 -liter V8 front engine with 571 hp and greased by dry crankcase, change of seven double clutch marches.

The use of aluminum for the body and the chassis causes the empty weight to be 1620 kg. The ideal distribution of pesos of 48/52 percent between the front and rear axes, as well as the low center of gravity accentuate the sportsmanship without compromise of this sports.

This low weight manages to throw a weight/power ratio of 2.84 kg/cv. The maximum torque of 650 Nm is reached at 4,750 rpm in this aspiration engine. The seagull wings accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds and reaches a maximum speed of 315 km/h.

Reinforced bench

The use of high rigidity components compensates for the increase in load from the increase in engine power. The forged pistons, a reinforced bench, the structure of the optimized crankcase and an improved grease with a very high pressure pump, are responsible for the durability of the group.

Despite the highest loads and requests for the material, the engine weight has been reduced, weighing 206 kg and throwing a weight/power ratio for the 0.36 kg/cv engine, which places it in the first range a lot of distance from its competitors. Additionally and due to the measures taken in cooling and lubrication of the engine, its approved consumption does not exceed 13 l/100 km.

The 6.3 -liter AMG V8 engine delivers its abundant power through an ultralight carbon fiber transmission tree, similar to that used in DTM class C. The change is mounted on the rear axle (transaxle scheme) and is connected to the engine through a pipe that houses the transmission tree.

Autoblocant differential

The advantages of this sophisticated solution are associated with the rigidity of the union between the engine and the necessary change before the huge pair supplied. A new AMG change of double clutch and seven speeds is responsible for transferring the pair to the wheels without pulling when changing march.

The driver can choose between four types of staggering for the change of marches, from the most comfortable to the sportiest, including the Race Start function. The autoblocant differential, integrated in the change housing, is responsible for optimal motor.

Ceramic brake discs, of great diameter, weigh 40% less and tires, especially developed for SLS AMG, 265/35 R 19 in front and 295/30 r 20 behind, seek an excellent poise and grip.
