BMW's sixth Berlin generation, the world's best -selling premium car, again marks milestones in sports, elegance and comfort.
Inspired by the history of the model that was and remains a milestone in the automobile world, the new Berlina shines for its expressive aesthetics and by the new and evolved interpretation of the typical brand design. BMW's new expression, with flat headlights that reach BMW's double ovoid grill, accentuates the dynamic and elegant design of the new series 3 models. Compared to the previous model, the dimensions of the new generation models of series 3 are higher, calling the way the width (in front + 37 mm, behind + 47 mm). Also the highest length (+ 93 mm) and the increased axle distance (+ 50 mm) underline the Silhouette of the car. The cabin of the new Berlina of series 3 is perceptibly more spacious, which especially benefits passengers from the rear. For the first time, various equipment lines are offered for the BMW 3 Series: «Sport line», «Luxury line» and «Modern line». Each of them specifically accentuates the own character that has the new BMW new 3 -series sports Berlina.
The exclusive combinations of high quality materials and the impeccable finish underline the select environment that prevails in the models of the new BMW 3 series.
The technology of the propeller and chassis set always distinguished the brand models. Therefore, agility and dynamism remain the properties that distinguish the new BMW 3 Berlinque series, although it has greater dimensions, it weighs up to 40 kilograms less than the previous model. The new version shines due to the sports character of this series of models, which together with the highest level of comfort increases the pleasure of being at the controls of the new model.
When the new BMW 3 Berlina series is launched to the market, it will be offered with four motors of soft operation, low consumption and large acceleration and recovery capacity. All of them are equipped with the new BMW Twinpower Turbo technology. In addition to two optimized diesel engines and the successful six -cylinder gasoline engine, a new four -cylinder turbocharger engine is included in the range. The engine of the new BMW 328i has a very dynamic behavior and, at the same time, consumes less and its emissions are lower.
The innovative eight -speed automatic box offers completely new perspectives. BMW is the first car manufacturer that offers an eight -speed automatic box in the Premium Berlin segment. This automatic transmission, which can be combined with all diesel and gasoline engines, works with the Auto Start/Stop system included as standard. With this box, now more compact and optimized degree of efficiency, the new BMW 3 series consumes equal or less than the models equipped with the six -speed manual manual gearbox. The new eight -speed automatic box combines comfort, dynamism and efficiency at a very high level and perfectly harmonizes with the dynamic potential that houses the new Berlin.
The auto start/stop functions, recovery of braking energy, indication of the optimal moment for gears and the operation of secondary groups as necessary, including the decoupling of the air conditioner compressor, are part of the BMW EFFECIENTDYNAMICS technology that manages to reduce the level of consumption. The new Driving Experience Control, which allows the driver to select from the Comfort, Sport, Sport+ and Eco Pro driving modes, manages to additionally reduce the efficiency of all models. With this control, the driver has the possibility of choosing an optimized consumption driving mode, increasing the autonomy of his car. The same applies in relation to the champion of the low CO2 emissions, the BMW 320D efficientdynamics edition. This model has a maximum power of 120 kW/163 hp, consumes on average 4.1 liters at 100 kilometers and its CO2 value is 109 grams per kilometer. BMW will expand its range of engines in 2012, adding more advanced technology propellants. Also in next year the BMW Activehybrid 3 will be released.
Superiority, greater comfort and safety by intelligent network
BMW Connecteddrive offers an unparalleled combination of driver assistance systems and mobility services, planned for models of the new BMW Series 3. The HEAD-UP Display virtual screen is a novelty in the Premium Berlin segment. This screen offers all important information by means of extraordinary resolution projected directly in the driver's visual field. In addition, the Surround view and top view panoramic view system is offered. With the Top View function, the driver can appreciate his car and his surroundings from the aerial perspective. The Assistant parking system is responsible for performing the necessary maneuvers to park the car. Among the other assistance systems that include BMW Connecteddrive, it is worth mentioning the speed regulation system with Stop and GO function, the lane change warning system and the journey output warning that, in turn, includes the collision warning system with respect to the car that circulates in front. This system that works using cameras is offered for the first time in the BMW 3 Berlina series. Additionally, the new model may be optionally equipped with the Real -Time Traffic Information System (RTTI) (it is not offered in Spain), with special applications such as "BMW Connected" for the use of social networks, as well as with an innovative function to open the trunk cover intelligently without touching it, and an active protection system for car occupants. The expanded emergency call function BMW Assist with automatic car location makes rescue equipment more quickly to the place of a possible accident, being previously informed about the type of collision (it is not offered in Spain).
