After its presentation last March at the Geneva Motor Show, the Peugeot 908 Hybrid4 has carried out its first circuit tests on October 11 in Estoril.
Peugeot's new competition vehicle has debuted on the tracks and according to the house, the results have been very positive. In total, the pilots Nicolas Minassian, Stéphane Sarrazin and Alexander Wurz rolled for just over 300 kilometers. Bruno Famin, technical director of Peugeot Sport has indicated that "the system worked and reacted as planned, which meant for us a first satisfaction. On the other hand, we began to make the first adjustments to the car and the system responded well, which is very positive."
The genesis
in 2008, in Silverstone, Peugeot Sport presented a hybrid demonstrator made on the basis of 908 HDI FAP. This first project was born with the objective of knowing the difficulties that this new technology could propose to integrate it in the best possible way in the new car that was planned to debut in 2011, within the framework of the technical regulations approved at the end of 2009. “We developed this system throughout 2010 and we made a first trial in the power bank in early 2011,” explains Bruno Famin. "In Peugeot Sport, we have a dynamic bank to test the motor-change-transmission assembly. This is very practical since the group works exactly the same as inside the car. The hybrid function is integrated into the motopropulor October".
