Nissan will extend with retroactive effect, the the Nissan Leaf batteries since its launch in 2011. The new extended guarantee offers coverage to the owners for the loss of battery capacity below 9 bars during the existing guarantee period.

Based on the new extended guarantee , Nissan guarantees that the lithium ion battery will maintain a capacity of at least 9 of the 12 bars that appear in the battery capacity indicator for 5 years or 100,000 km, which happens before. All the terms and conditions of the guarantee changes will be communicated by letter to customers next month.

The improvement of the existing guarantee will apply to the more than 10,000 Nissan Leaf that have already been sold in Europe; 93% of customers claim to be "very" or "completely" satisfied with this 100% electric car.

One of the clients who will benefit from this guarantee is Joakim Sveli who, after conducting a Nissan Leaf for business in Norway, has stated: "This new guarantee is great news for current customers, who normally do not usually benefit from improvements such as this. Although it is reassured to have the extended guarantee , I drive my Nissan Leaf every day for work and I have not yet detected any difference in autonomy after 18 months and almost 18 months 40,000 km .

The new Nissan Leaf manufactured in Europe will go on sale in June 2013 throughout Europe and will also benefit from the improvement of the battery guarantee.
