Nissan has presented the innovative Zeod RC , the fastest electric racing prototype in the world that will reach speeds of more than 300 kilometers per hour in the 24 hours of Le Mans.

The Zeod RC (Zero Ission on Demand Racing Car) will make its debut next year in the 24 hours of Le Mans. With him, Nissan will experience a new electrical technology in the LMP1 category.

Nissan Zeod RC team is headed by Ben Bowlby, who has recently been appointed director of Innovation at Nissan Motorsport and who in 2012 worked on the Nissan Deltawing program.

Although the car will not run the 24 hours of Le Mans until next year, Nissan has presented its program and fans have been able to enjoy the electric prototype in the public area of the cross circuit. Nissan will continue to show more details of his car through his YouTube channel, Nismo.TV.

"The Nissan Zeod RC is the natural successor of the Nissan Leaf as standard and the LEAF RC. The technology developed in the Zeod RC program will be part of the future innovations for Nissan serial cars."

"The Zeod RC program is designed to develop various technologies that will be evaluated to be able to use them in the future LMP1 on the return of Nissan at 24 hours of Le Mans. There are many options that we are investigating. The future of racing cars is marked by zero emissions electric engines and regular gasoline propellers, so that we will test everything, and even new technologies that we have in the phase of development".

Although the current batteries are not able to store the necessary energy for a prototype to compete in Le Mans with only electric propulsion, the designer of the Nissan Zeod RC, Ben Bowlby, believes that the development of the prototype will be a big step forward to introduce electricity in the racing cars of the future.

"The development of a car like this will be an impressive test bench to start defining the most effective and efficient options for series cars. Throughout the next twelve months we will try multiple propulsion systems with a wide test program," Bowlby said.

Nissan Zeod RC design team has focused on aerodynamics, which will provide great performance in terms of energy efficiency, which is the objective of all car manufacturers."

"A large part of our work for the coming months is to prepare together with the accusation for the regulations for electric cars that participate in Le Mans in the future and work so that our technology is the most appropriate. Garage 56 is a great success of the ACO, which bets on innovation and allows you to test new components and systems that can be used in the future. The accumulation is the current promoter most advanced to its Motorsport time."

Nissan will be associated with the French manufacturer of Michelin tires, which will be in charge of creating the tires of the new prototype. Nissan and Michelin already joined their forces last season with the Nissan Deltawing project. The Nissan Zeod RC will do its first test in late summer.
