The new FORE Fuel Advice service helps transport companies to cut their expenses in fuel, thanks to the planning and monitoring of their fuel consumption. The results can be translated in the long term in a saving of up to 5%.

Fuel costs represent between 25% and 35% of the total expenses of transport companies. In addition, carriers benefit margins are usually very small, which means that any savings, however small, can make a remarkable difference.

"Drivers play a vital role in reducing the total fuel consumption of a transport company. Efficient driving courses for drivers have proven effective, but without subsequent follow -up by professionals, the results are only appreciated in the short term," says Mikael Lidhage, director of fuel management in Volvo Trucks.

This is the reason why Volvo Trucks has launched the Fuel Advice service. It is a personal advisor whose task is to help carriers to reduce fuel costs and, at the same time, maintain these long -term improvements. This service consists of three modules: Fuel Coaching, Fuel Management Toolbox and Fuel Management Support. The program requires that the transport company designate a specialist responsible for the consumption efficiency area who, at the same time, will perform the liaison function with the Volvo advisor.

The purpose of this service is to improve the quality of the measures imposed for fuel savings. By providing continuous feedback to customers, these measures are applied naturally.

"A client involved and focused, with open communication channels with drivers, the fuel savings specialist of his own company, and Volvo's fuel advisor can easily reduce fuel consumption between 3 and 5%," says Mikael Lidhage.

The FORE ADVICE service is a complement to the current Volvo Trucks fuel management service, which was initially designed for large transport companies.

"Thanks to Fuel Advice, even small transport companies can benefit from personal supervision and have their own fuel advisor," Mikael Lidhage continues.

Fuel Advice is available with the new FH series. In previous models equipped with Dynafleet will be available at the beginning of next year.

Initially, this service will only be available in Europe.

Data about the three fuel modules Advice:

  1. Fuel Coaching. The advisors provide practical advice on how fuel consumption can be reduced, and also on planning and structure of the necessary subsequent monitoring. If a driver suddenly changes his driving style so that he requires urgent information or comments, or perhaps a specific action, the company's fuel head receives a notification.
  2. Fuel Management Toolbox.
  3.  Fuel Management Support.
