Volkswagen celebrates the 35th anniversary GTI with a special edition that reaches 247 km/h.

Golf GTI 35 with 6 kg/cv and a consumption of only 8.1 l/100 km

Volkswagen celebrates the 35th anniversary of the mythical Golf GTI premieging a special edition: Golf GTI 35. GTI performance 35: 173 kW/235 hp of power (+ 25 hp more than conventional GTI), maximum speed of 247 km/hy weight/power ratio of 6 kg/cv. An authentic collector's piece from day one, which arrives punctual to the 35th anniversary of the legendary GTI.

Nothing suggest that the first GTI launched by Volkswagen in summer 1976 would become a myth, not even Volkswagen had it, since some things are completely unpredictable, such as icons. The first Golf GTI was a big surprise for all, for customers, for competition, for manufacturers and for all sports and luxury Berlin drivers who had not yet heard of the new Volkswagen that I was advancing on the highway. Since then, the GTI has become the most successful compact sports car in the history of the car. In the beginning it was agreed to manufacture a special series of 5,000 units, however the demand of the GTI exceeds expectations and is currently very close to exceeding the barrier of the 2 million units sold.

Acceleration from 0 to 100km/h in 6.6 seconds

The new Golf 35 version underlines once again the great potential that this car contains. Following the tradition, the new model equips front -wheel drive and, thanks to the electronic sliding differential 'XDS', it grabs to the ground as never before. The powerful golf GTI 35 each transforms its 300 Nm (from 2,200 to 5,500 rpm) in pure propulsion achieving the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.6 seconds. There was never a more dynamic GTI before. The new version can be optionally equipped with the rapid 6 -speed 'DSG' change that automatically changes marching in second fractions.

Abroad

The front of the Golf GTI 35, which now equipped with Bi-Xenon Faros with dynamic light in curve and LED driving light, is distinguished by its bumper with the low black. Winglets (air derivation surfaces), located in the lower external area, and the central piece of the black front spoiler contribute to significantly improve aerodynamics. The sides of the commemorative model are characterized by the bright black retrovils, the wide stroke painted in the color of the body and the logos of the “35” edition in the passage. Additionally, the Golf GTI 35 equips other details such as darkened rear headlights, LED lighting of the enrollment on the rear window and dark rear windows.

In addition, Volkswagen offers new 18 -inch light alloy wheels for the "Watkins" design golf 35 (watkins "(named in commemoration of a well -known American racing circuit located in the state of New York). The tires, equipped with 225/40 R18 tires, are in silver aesthetics. Thanks to its clear and sports design, the new tires of the new GTI have the potential to become true classic models such as the well -known GTI "Denver" and "Detroit" designs. Volkswagen expands the range of colors for the new model offering gray Carbon Steel to the color palette.

Inside

Volkswagen customizes the inside of the GTI 35 Golf adding new GTI ingredients such as the classic gear gear lever knob Sports Fronts of Alcantara and Leather “GTI 35” with the “35” logo integrated in the center of the seats.

Also, the Golf GTI 35 also offers exclusive seats where the inner face of them and the frontal area of the headrests have been covered with the luxurious “vienna” leather of “black titanium” color; The central bands of the seats, from Black Alcantara, adopt the legendary bee nest structure of the GTI grid. Backups integrate the "35" logo. The decorative seams of the seats are red. Other red details are the decorative seams of the 3 -radius sports steering wheel, the hand brake and gear lever handle, as well as the trim of the carpets.

Engine

235 hp and 300 nm. It has a power of 173 kW / 235 hp (+ 25 hp more than the conventional GTI; from 5,500 to 6,300 rpm) and a force of 300 nm (+ 20 nm; from 2,200 to 5,500 rpm). The acceleration of 0 to 100 km/g in 6.6 seconds and the maximum speed of 247 kilometers are rather data for statistics, since, the truly important detail for this GTI is the great thrust of the engine in each revolution regime. The driver gets into the car, adjust the steering wheel and the ergonomic sports seats, turn on the engine (by means of the key or pulsation of the boot button if it mounts the optional Keyless Access system) and unleashes the storm accompanied by the powerful motor roar. Through the acoustic actuator perfected by Volkswagen, the GTI sporty sound is further accentuated.

SCOPE OF 1,984 cm3. The GOLF GTI 35 equips a turbocharged engine of direct injection gasoline from the EA113 engines family. If they are thinking of the Golf R with total traction, they have succeeded, since both cars share the same motor base. The large 2.0 -liter and 4 cylinder engine generates its powerful thrust through intercooler supercharging (overload pressure: 1.9 bar at 5,500 rpm). From the GTI engine control, a specific electronic management of this model is occupied. Another of the improvement measures has been the reinforcement of the bolts of the motor pistons and the connecting rods that now transmit the high torque to the crankshaft more safely. In order to cope with the great force of the engine, the 8.0 l/100 km cylinder block with 'DSG' is also reinforced. Despite its great dynamism, Golf 35 manages the fuel available efficiently: the new GTI with manual change offers consumption rates and combined CO2 emissions of 8.1 liters and 189 g/km respectively. Equipped with automatic 'DSG' change, fuel consumption and CO2 rates decrease to 8.0 l/100 km and 185 g/km respectively.

Gearbox

Two 6 -speed gearboxes. The GOLF GTI 35 equips a 6 -speed manual gearbox and, optionally, the 6 -speed 'DSG' automatic change. The GTI, with front -wheel drive for 35 years, now equips an electronic limited sliding differential 'XDS'. The 'XDS' is an extension of the differential blocking 'eds' integrated into the 'Esp' that improperly improving traction and handling. When a curve is taken at high speed there is a danger that the inner wheel of the curve discharges the front axle too much; Smart electronics detects this situation informing the 'ESP' hydraulic system that creates a braking pressure in the wheel, thus establishing optimal traction. In this way, the 'XDS' acts as a differential blocking balanced the typical survival of front -wheel drive cars during high speed curves. The result is a much more precise and neutral driving behavior.

Chassis

Chassis reduced in 15 millimeters. As is common for all GTI models, the 'Edition 35' version also equips a sports chassis, its body is 15 millimeters lower than that of a conventional golf. In front of the well -known McPherson suspension with helical docks and telescopic shock absorbers, behind, the innovative multiple joint rear axle in charge of the 'ESP' is only activated on few occasions. The four Volkswagen disc brakes are extraordinarily resistant and highly efficient: the braking distance of the GTI 35 golf at a speed of 100 km/h is only 35 meters. Another advantages of this magnificent GTI.
