One of these novelties are the SSD discs with semantic memory presented by Samsung, a new hard disk style that combines the benefits of traditional storage with the dynamic access of DRAM memories .
THE BEST OF THE 2 TYPES OF MEMORIES
DRAM memories and traditional SSD storage retain information differently. While the SSDs store the information for a long time even if the device is turned off, the DRAM memories empty when turning it off. Now Samsung wants to combine these two types of memory on the new SSD discs with semantic memory , an idea that they released a few months ago with the presentation of MRAM memories.
In the hard drives presented by Samsung, the CXL technology (Leveraging Compute Express Link) is used that allows you to work with a DRAM cache memory with what, in practice, is like a SSD hard drive with its own incorporated dram memory.
This technology optimizes the management of small amounts of data at large speeds, so they would be especially indicated for use in artificial or similar intelligence processes.
The result is that these hard drives provide a reading rate that multiplies by 20 that of other current equipment , in addition to having a lower latency. Benefits that, for the moment, in Samsung guide the professional user.
