Lexus has decided to replace the joint and repair the fuel pipe in some units of its models of the LS, GS, IS, IS Cabrio and IS-F rates.
The fuel pipes in the engine compartment of the affected vehicles were manufactured with nickel phosphate coating to protect them against corrosion.
In some of the tubes it could happen that coating particles had been deposited on the surface where the fuel pressure sensor joint is based. In that condition, sealing properties between the pressure sensor and the pipe could be degraded.
With the vehicle running, fuel could be escaped through the Board. In the presence of a source of ignition, this could increase the risk of vehicle fire.
To date, no accident has been registered as a consequence of this situation and 3 client claims have been counted throughout Europe.
In Spain, 1,909 units of the LS, GS, IS, IS Cabrio and IS-F models will be reviewed, manufactured from September 2004 to September 2010.
