Or you help me or stay without a car. Posted by manual-mecanica
I have a Seat Ibiza 0.9 of the year 92, and until today I had not given any problem.

The fact is that today after starting and making a short journey I have stopped the engine, and when I start it does not turn the starter engine, a click is heard when you give the key to try to start, but the thing stays there. (That click resembles the one who sounds when the battery has not enough strength to move the starter engine and give it to contact). The battery is full, the rest of the electrical systems work normally ... What can happen to you? Does anyone know where the starter engine relay is? Has the starter engine itself melted?

If I do not give with the failure I suppose that I will unsubscribe the car, since because of its age I do not think it is worth taking it to a workshop, so I appreciate your answers in advance.

It may be that the starter engine turns but the attack pinon does not come out, the only thing I can tell you is that you remove it and connect it to the battery if it does its function well.

Manual-mecanica response on the re: o You help me or stay without a car.
Hello Michelker, calm that the thing is not very serious.

What happens to you is because the starting engine of your car dead and has been short -circuited, it is recognized because when you give the key something like a taka sounds. If you do this test with the lights of the car lit you will notice how they fall on luminosity because the whole current is eating the dead start.

Solution:

1st Item The 2nd battery dough
dismantles the starter engine of your
3rd car Go to the scrapping and buy one equal or if you want to do it better yet buy a repaired exchange of exchange in a house of spare parts for cars.

4th assemble the start and rampate again the battery, and run again !!

To the question of "where is the starting relay" I explain to you:

it is located just above the starter engine being part of it. You will recognize it because it comes a "fat" cable of the positive battery that is fastened with a 13mm nut, and another cable is equally fat but very short from the starter. In addition it also has a fine cable with a Faston terminal that is the one that comes from the starter key.

Its mission is double:

on the one hand it closes the electrical circuit that operates the starter engine (joint the fat cables) when you give the key

on the other hand pushes the stood engine attack pinion against the crown of the inertia wheel of the gasoline engine so that it occurs the dump and its implementation.

If the starting relay was wrong, you would notice it for the following causes:

1st electrical failure: the start does absolutely nothing when you turn the key.

2nd Mechanical failure: The relay closes the contacts when you give the key but does not pushing the booting pinion against the crown in such a way that the electric motor revolves empty by doing as a "ssiiiiiiiinnnnn". Another thing that can happen is that it does not push it enough with what the teeth of the start against the crown would scratch as when the reversal of the car scratches.

3rd Mechanical failure: The relay closes and pushes the pinion, the engine starts but although you have already released the key the starter motor is grabbed by turning "to its ball" causing the complete destruction of the starter engine and even the fire of the motor cables.

But calm that that is not happening to you !!.

I hope I have helped you
a greeting.
