El meteorito impactó en el segmento C3 del espejo, compuesto de 18 espejos hexagonales y, según las comprobaciones llevadas a cabo posteriormente, la calidad óptica de dicho segmento ha disminuido significativamente con respecto a las pruebas realizadas al mismo antes de que el James Webb abandonara nuestro planeta.

The first images of the James Webb space telescope have been waiting, however the wait has been worth it, then, as expressed by NASA administrator, Bill Nelson, in the press release in which the 5 new images were announced, "humanity is today witnessing a new and innovative vision of the cosmos."
