Volkswagen Golf 1.9 TDI 90CV year 1997 published by Manual-Mecanica
Hello friends:

First of all thanks for this forum so playful and fun.

I explain my problem. The fact is that the car began to fail in the following way:

when speeding, the car was phenomenal, but if at any time I released the accelerator, if I was step on again, the car began to release white smoke and did not respond. He began to fail in the start until he did not start.

After taking it to the workshop, they make me the distribution and they tell me that the pinion that leaves the crankshaft is bad and you have to change it. Total € 450.

For days the car is going phenomenal again, but a week, it begins to fail again ........ miraculously, after several days of failures, it begins to walk well again, for a few days ....... then fails again, to the point that it no longer starts, just throw white smoke when trying .....

Can anyone tell me if it is true what the workshop tells me that I have to change the engine ????

Greetings and thank you very much.

Manual-Mecanica Response on the Re: Volkswagen Golf 1.9 TDI 90CV Year 1997
Hi Edtronic, welcome to the forum, the truth is that what you tell me seems a bit fucking.

But I can't take the truth to tell you if this happens or that if I don't see it personally. In the first place, white-blue smoke is due to the pulverized diesel without burn (vapors) that comes out of the escape.

This may be due to many things, for example:

1st Delay of the 2nd Injection Pump
Motor Compression
of the 3rd failure of one or more injectors, put the diesel but do not spray it correctly. (In this case I would throw white smoke sometimes and black other)

the issue that it was fine and suddenly began to fail, especially when the turbo does not blow well (release and step on the accelerator again) makes me think that there can be segments and that the engine is low compression.

On the other hand, what you tell me that it is difficult for him to start cold being a TDI, he agrees that you have the fucking segments.

In any case, the first thing is to verify engine compression with the compressimeter, then, if it is low, open and see what it has petized, they can be valve seats, segments, wear ...

and if it were not low compression, other possible causes, out -of -point distribution, injection pump, injection pump, (in a great way everything I have written above) would have to be looked like.

Greetings and I hope the matter is not very serious.

Manual-Mecanica Response on the Re: Volkswagen Golf 1.9 TDI 90CV Year 1997
Hello.
On the subject of the crankshaft piñon there is a small problem, which possibly in the workshop did not explain.
The key is incorporated into the piñon, and the crankshaft carries a rebages to fit well adjusted, and the drag is good, but the problem that I have encountered several times, is that due to the repeated use before going to the workshop, a wear is produced in the encague The drag is not good, and the distribution leaves, in this case the crankshaft and connecting rod and bench should be replaced.
I hope I contributed something.
Greetings.

Fuck how to put !! Remove the alternative train completely and change it! I didn't know that!

Anyway, there are two possibilities:

1st Scroll
2nd Mechanize a new keyboard in the crankshaft and make another pinion to the different use of the original because it is the largest chaveter.

It is Chinese's work, but you will tell me that you do an engine without a key.

All the best.

Hello.
If you opt for scratch, which is not a bad idea, I would look to look for a complete engine that is fine, it will almost get cheaper in workshop labor, and much faster, I doubt that you can get only the crankshaft.
All the best.
