Opel Astra 17 TD Distribution Published by Manual-Mecanica
Greetings to the entire forum, I would like to know if in case the distribution strap of an Opel Astra 1.7 TD of 94 is broken, the pistons would touch the valves, since in other gasoline models of this brand, they do not, thank you very much

Manual-Mecanica Answer on the RETRA 17 TD Distribution
Hello everyone, this is a partner, when the levy tree is broken and the injection pump stops, however the crankshaft continues to rotate until a piston rises in some cylinder in which a valve is open, and there can happen anything, twist or break the valve or the piston.

I do not say that in gasoline if the distribution strap is broken, nothing happens? I know how Gasoil are going but I don't know if they carry a chain or I don't know ...

Manual-Mecanica Answer on the RETRA 17 TD Distribution
Thanks in advance for interested in my consultation. The issue is that there are Opel engines from the early 90s (which I know), 1.6, 1.8, etc. , of gasoline, that although the distribution strap is broken, the engine is not in danger, since the pistons do not touch the vavas. It is to place again belt, tensioner and new bearing and to work. My query is whether also in the 1.7 TD model of 94, the engine is designed in the same way and there is no danger to the vávules in case of rupture of the distribution strap. Greetings and thanks
