distribution strap published by manual-mecanica
Hello: it is my first message and I wanted to greet them all and thank that a page like that exists, so I leave this doubt that I have, it is a VW Polo Fox, of the 93 gasoline, some expert here the same thing knows something, well if you see the photos you will see that the wheel toothed from the bottom of the distribution strap is a bit inclined to one side, when the engine turns, everything goes well. That it does not turn completely straight but rotates ellipically, with the engine running it seems that it is going to come out, when I stop it, I can with my hand straight, as if it were loose, what APSA is that I do not see any twist twist Apra Apra tightening-Soltar-Chamber this piece, someone knows what it is, if it is serious if it is worth fixing it in a 16-year-old car.

Manual-Mecanica Response on the Re: distribution strap
Hello. It is also the first time I write, and I have seen your consultation, and the photos.
That is the water pump, and if the rest of the car is more or less well, I think it is worth fixing it, because for the price of rapore you will not buy a car.
My advice is that you repair it as soon as possible, since if the pulley will be completely broken, it will cause consistent damage to the engine.
All the best.

Manual-Mecanica Response on the Re: distribution strap
Hello friend: The truth is that I do not know the engine you are talking about, but because of the indications you aim, it could be the Damper pulley.
This pulley as natural is metal, but its interior is an elastic material that with use, usually breaks. If it is the Damper, I suggest that you repair it quickly because its break would leave the engine unusable.
This pulley when deteriorates a lot of noise, is placed at the exit of the crankshaft and the repair would not have to overcome (in an official service) the € 150.

Zulu greeting

Manual-Mecanica Response on the Re: distribution strap
Hi Zulu.
If you look at the photograph, the toothed pulley that is smaller is the water pump, which in these volswagen engines usually break the bearing and take a lot of slack.
The noise is something similar to that of a broken Damper, but based on the photograph I would say that it is the pump.
All the best.
Barriquelo
