Floating, therefore there is no signal conduction, that device is a capacitive transducer that according to its position in the winding the resistance is greater or less and therefore the signal that reaches the slate indicator clock is equally greater or lesser so you see that the needle lowers and rises according to the amount of fuel, as you can analyze whether the rolled cable is left there can be no signal, so it does not work.
