distribution strap published by manual-mecanica
Hello in recent days my car went out a month after having left the workshop repair. It is a 2005 Chevrolet Spark, after rule out electrical failure, battery failure and/or alarm, it was found that I had broken the distribution strap. Days before the motor witness light -CCHECK- I had turned on and at the time I went out too. I had already announced this in the workshop and they didn't want to pay attention to me. The question I want to ask is whether this light of ignition was indicating that there was an engine failure and that I had to check it ... could it have been prevented? I had a mileage of 47,000 km and they had told me to change it to 60,000 and apparently there was no cause to break ... would it have to see bad repair? Thanks to who can help me

Manual-Mecanica Response on the Re: distribution strap
Hi Forero, I am a motorcycle mechanic but at the beginning of my time I went from cars, I will tell you that in principle that light does not warn that the distribution strap is broken, that light was the notice of what then happened, something worked badly and crak, it broke, you could not have avoided it. The distribution strap is convenient to change it a little before what the manufacturer tells you and it also depends on the type of use that is of the car, abrupt accelerations, etc. What if I recommend that you change the belt, tensioners and guides that carry, as well as that they check the water pump, how it is in sight and the fat is done, I imagine that I imagine that they will have folded any valve so they will euros nobody saves you so resignation ...... Greetings.
PD do not comment why you took him the previous time, the same thing they touched something that they should not have touched .... take another workshop for contrasting opinions ... there are a lot of shots distributed ....

Manual-Mecanica Response on the Re: distribution strap
Hello,

thanks, for your appreciations. Before I took the car by collision, I was damaged all the front (capot, radiator, AA capacitor and the list would be endless) from there it was that I was lighting the check. They repaired it to the consequent (I thought it was quality and possessed supposed, only that the insurance covered me). I took it by guarantee to review that notice and they told me that the car did not present anything. The result: broken distribution strap, valve damage, camshaft etc, of course I took it to another workshop. Although in truth they told me that the change of tensioners was not necessary because they were seen without any wear. Do you tell me that I should change it? thank you

Manual-Mecanica Response on the Re: distribution strap
Hi Sabata311 looks at the light, Chek only turns on to warn problems, it never turns on because if nothing else, if it is taught the engine has any failure, it is rare that you are said not, now the chek only detects failures in the fuel injection system and aveses in the change boxes, but this is rare, it has nothing to do with the breakage of the distribution strap, now every time the strap is changed every time Distribution It is recommended to change the tensioning bearings for safety, especially after a crash, which turned off after the workshop that is strange and you have to check it, if you give me more details we can see if it is run or fuel and from where they bain

Manual-Mecanica Response on the Re: distribution strap
: Ohmy: Hi Kike,

thank you very much for your support. Look, after some valves were repaired that were damaged with the belt, the car has been apparently well. However, on two occasions I have been lit the famous Chek, a long time, I have scared, I have turned off the car and do not return to do. What do you think should do?
