I am wanting to make a small modification to the motor of my car.
I wanted to lower (file) the cylinder cover to gain more compression. But I have some doubts with this topic. Several different things told me about this modification.
1st) They told me that to do this I also have to modify the camshaft because that original camshaft is perposed for a compression of 9: 1 and I want to take it to 10: 1 or perhaps a little more (I still do not know). Is this so?
2nd) Another person with whom I consulted told me, the cylinder lid can be filed, then the only thing you have to do is correct the advance of the distributor, it is not necessary to modify the camshaft.
One tells me that if you have to modify the camshaft and another tells me no.
I consult you to get the doubt, if under the cylinder cover, what things would have to do to leave it well?
I tell you, my car is a Ford Sierra XR4, 2.3l TWO -BOCAS SOLEX carburetor 36/36 of simultaneous opening, with electronic ignition. All the engine mechanics is sp.
The escape multiple, is not competition, but from factory it was already improved compared to the Sedan model (mine is Coupé), this for now I will not change it.
