Hi Wal7er, to the question of why the piston will collide with the cylinder head, it is the usual: the hunning cap "left" for several reasons that are usually lack of lubrication, poorly rectified from the crankshaft or bad choice of the thickness of the connecting rod cap. If the connecting rod doll has been ovalized for some of these reasons, there comes a time when it goes more and more and ... taca-taca-ta ... and ... it is already known, the connecting rod by the side of the block (it was the final result of a Renault F9Q), or full engine change before it was more ... (This was a 1ZZ Celica Toyota which I no longer had the cap ...).
When this "sound" is heard and they have been proven that it is not taques, you have to disassemble carter and check the slack of connecting rods to be able to remedy before it is too late and see the reason if it is for ovalized or lack of pressing of grease, it does not serve to change the cap as it will go again. Greetings!!
