It is a Charade year 92 and it is very possible that the coals are spent as you mention since the alternator never touched, anyway he tries the load tension and is correct.
I thought that when there was electrical consumption and a load on the engine was produced due to the operation of the alternator, the carburetor was compensated by some diaphragm, it was just an idea since I am not a specialist in the subject.
