Wolfsburg receives the adventurer Rainer Zietlow and his team, who toured the Pan American Route in record time
On board a Volkswagen Touareg V6 TDI, Rainer Zietlow and his team established a new absolute record in the popular race of the Pan -American Highway, with a journey time of only 11 days, 17 hours and 22 minutes. This test crosses the total length of North and South America. As a culmination of his journey along this famous route, this Off-Road enthusiast arrives at Wolfsburg with the reliable Touareg that has once again demonstrated a powerful and authentic land.
Zietlow and his team covered a total of 22,750 kilometers on the route between Tierra de Fuego and Alaska. In its record route, which has been certified by the Tüv Nord quality control organization, 17 countries crossed, as well as almost the entire variety of climatic and vegetation zones on the planet. Whether it was low extreme heat, torrential rain, sand or snow storms, the Volkswagen Touareg demonstrated its efficiency and resistance in each and every one of the extreme driving conditions.
Rainer Zietlow beat the previous world record for four days, achieved in 2006. In the Touareg, the 3.0 V6 V6 TDI Clean Diesel of 225 hp (in its US version for the US) consumes 30% less fuel and emits up to 25% less CO2 than other vehicles with gasoline engine of its class.
