Nissan has started the production of the new and improved Nissan Leaf 100% electric. This new Nissan Leaf, which incorporates more than 100 updates, has started its production in the Nissan factory in Sunderland, and incorporates advanced lithium -ion batteries manufactured in the United Kingdom.

The new Nissan Leaf for 2013 has more than 100 updates aimed at getting Nissan zero emission technology accessible to more European drivers. The improvements with respect to the first -generation Leaf, include greater autonomy of 199 km and a reduction at half the recharge time.

This historical launch arrives when the Nissan factory in Sunderland celebrates the manufacture of more than seven million units since its opening in 1986. Last year it produced 510,572 vehicles, so it became the first cars factory in the United Kingdom to exceed half a million cars produced in a year. The Nissan Leaf now occurs in three plants in different regions of the world: Sunderland in the United Kingdom, Smyrna, Tennessee in the United States, and Oppama in Japan.

In addition, the Nissan Leaf will be launched in a range with three new finishes, a new inner upholstery, new technology such as the 360º Vision Chamber of Nissan and new intelligent driving performance specifically designed for European roads. This new model offers European customers a second generation of zero emission car, even before most companies have launched their first electric vehicle.

In only 12 months, Nissan has increased the number of dealers who sell the Leaf from 150 to 1,400, while the number of recharge points in Europe have passed from 12,000 to more than 20,000, which proves that electric vehicles are increasingly attractive.

The new Nissan Leaf will soon be joined fully electrical versions of the NV200, which will be called E-NV200, both in a version of light commercial van and in Combi of five places. The development of an electric taxi based on the E-NV200 is also underway. In 2015 an electric infiniti will arrive.
