Mazda and Fiat have announced today the signing of the final agreement that contemplates the production, by Mazda, of a convertible Sports Biplaza for Alfa Romeo in the Japanese plant in Hiroshima as of 2015.

Alfa Romeo's new Roadster will be developed for the global market and will be based on the next generation architecture of Mazda MX-5. The agreement contemplates the development of two rear -wheel drive models, although with a distinctive style. Also, each of the variants will have a range of motorizations of each manufacturer.

Through this agreement, Mazda seeks to increase efficiency in its development and production processes, as well as renew the interest in the segment of convertible sports biplaza worldwide. For its part, this collaboration will allow the Italian firm to have a contemporary interpretation of the classic Roadster Alfa Romeo by using the latest technical solutions, which will also contribute to the achievement of its objectives for 2016.
