Audi begins to completely integrated the rapid data transfer system for the car .

It can be asked as an option at the Audi S3 Sportback from July. In all other versions of the range it will be available in early November. LTE technology is very important for Audi Connect , the system that interconnects the vehicle with the driver, with the Internet and with the environment.

The new LTE (Long Term Evolution) allows the exchange of huge amounts of data through the Internet, such as music and movies in HD quality. This new technology reaches data transfer rates of up to 150 mbit/s in decrease, compared to 28.8 mbit/s of the third generation mobile telephony standard.

Commercial LTE networks already exist in many European countries and in the United States. In Germany, LTE is available in some large cities , but above all it is active in many rural areas. The system is expected to be fully operational at the end of 2014.

To use LTE, you only need to insert a SIM card associated with a flat data rate in the corresponding slot in the MMI Navigation Plus unit in the Audi S3 Sportback . When passengers connect their mobile terminals to the WLAN access point integrated into the car, each one can navigate the web independently.

For example, a passenger can participate in a videoconference, while another watch a video. The system allows up to eight mobile devices or terminals.

The MMI Navigation Plus uses LTE to integrate the personalized Audi Connect services, from navigation with Google Earth and Google Street View to the radio broadcast online or real -time traffic information. Facebook and Twitter social networks have also become compatible with the vehicle with a previous reading function and predefined text blocks. In addition, there are more than a dozen Audi Connect services, which include a brief text messages function (SMS) and email reading. And the range of services is expanding rapidly.

The LTE technology for the Audi S3 Sportback can be requested from this July , and for all other variants of the A3 family as of November.
