The Subaru XV Bi-Fuel (more autogás gasoline) joins the 2.5 Bifuel outback, available since January this year. This new model, whose Bi-Fuel option costs € 2,670, has a consumption of € 5.44/100 km (in the 114 hp version) and € 5.53/100 km in the 150 hp version.
Autogas (LPG, liquefied oil gas) is the most used alternative fuel worldwide. It is used by more than 17 million vehicles. In Europe, 8 million cars use this fuel, that is, an approximate 2% of the park. Estimates say this figure will rise to 10% in 2020.
Autogas offers advantages over traditional fuels. It is less polluting (68% less NOx particle emissions compared to diesel and CO2 emissions by 10% lower than those of gasoline) and cheaper (every liter of autogas costs a little less than half than a liter of diesel).
After many years, the use of Autogas is beginning to grow in Spain, where it is expected that the supply network is 300 stations at the end of the year and 450 stations by the end of 2013.
Subaru has been offering Bi-Fuel technology for some time, where the same car engine can consume a fuel (gasoline) or other (autogás), in many European countries with considerable success. For these reasons, Subaru Spain put on sale the Subaru Outback 2.5 Bi-Fuel in our country in January this year. Now the Subaru Bi-fuel range increases with the Subaru XV. It will be offered, for an increase in the price of € 2,670, in the new Subaru XV 1.6 Manual and 2.0 Lineartronic (CVT).
