The Detroit Motor Show was the place chosen by Smart to announce that at the end of 2009 it aims to create a new electric version of its Fortwo model, with the aim of continuing a production with a lower impact on the environment. Lithium battery, lower recharge period and less pollution are the most prominent aspects of this new bet, with a view to a future without fumes.
The Smart car firm will begin at the end of this year the production of a new electric version of its existing Fortwo model, which mounts an ion-lithium battery, with greater autonomy and a smaller recharge period, as announced by the company during the presentation of its prototype in the International Detroit Motor Show.
The bet that Smart makes for the ion-lithium batteries is because they have better benefits than the previous generations of them, creating the possibility of a longer duration, despite being smaller and needing less time for recharge, among other advantages.
All the advances and developments of the electrical models of this house are aimed at the care of the environment and reduce the impact that the manufacture of vehicles has on it. In addition, the company reported that it is studying the possibility of introducing electric fortwo into the US market.

The launch of this model comes after the start of a pilot project in London, in which one hundred electrical units were tested in order to examine the benefits of this vehicle in everyday use, as stated by the brand belonging to the Daimler Group.
All this comes after in September 2008, Daimler and the German electricity RWE began the "E-Mobility Berlin" project, by which both companies are jointly creating the necessary conditions to achieve mobility without emissions, through electric cars, all under the support of the German government and the city of Berlin.
Smart thus takes another step towards a future where utility and design do not direct directly with the natural environment that surrounds us.
