The new 2014 Sierra Pickup, opens a new and robust exterior that protects an ECotec3 engine, a completely renewed cabin with Intellilink connectivity and a wide standard equipment: high -range front lights and other premium features.
Motorization options have increased their power, torque and fuel efficiency. The options that will be offered will be 4.3l V-6, 5.3l V-8 and 6.2L V-8, all of the ECotec3 engines family. Each engine has direct injection, variable opening of continuous valves and the Active Fuel Management fuel management system, which means that they can easily change to work with four cylinders during light loads to save fuel.
The increase in power and efficiency of these new engines has been possible after investing more than 10 million hours in the development of sophisticated models, of which more than half were used to design the best of combustion processes.
The new 4.3 L V-6 Ecotec3 engine offers an improvement in torque and drag capacity for six out of 10 pickup owners that tow something. "Instead of adapting a V-6 engine used in passenger vehicles, we build a new engine based on the exclusive demands of a pickup," said Jordan Lee, head of the motor train engineer. "The 4.3 l engine shares a basic design architecture with the new V-8 engines interations."
With all this the V8 engine of the Sierra offers the best fuel economy. However, the new 5.3L Ecotec3 engine has important updates that make it even more efficient. For its part, 6.2L V-8 ECOTEC3 is designed to offer an outstanding capacity.
With the new designs of additional engines and developments, customers can expect the second generation of Active Fuel Management of Sierra to be better and that it can work in four -cylinder mode for a longer time.
The three engines use light aluminum blocks and heads and are married to six -speed automatic transmissions. In the "slope braking assistance" the transmission automatically performs a descending change, allowing to reduce brake wear. V-8 models use new and longer rear axes between 9.5 and 9.76 inches with sufficient strength to accommodate greater energy production.
Duralife® brake discs and assisted electric direction
strong brakes are important to stop a pickup, when it is loaded. Sierra 2014 has four -wheeled disc brakes with Duralife rotors that offer a hardened and reinforced surface to reduce corrosion. Duralife rotors are expected to double the life of conventional rotors and execute a quieter braking and with less vibration.
On the other hand, the Sierra 2014 uses an assisted electric direction. The use of an electric motor, instead of a hydraulic pump, saves fuel and allows a more consistent and precise adjustment, which will facilitate parking maneuvers.
The new interior of the Sierra 2014
The interior of the Sierra 2014 contains quality materials, soft to the touch, with accents in aluminum and technological novelties whose objective is to create a useful and productive space.
The vertical instrument panel takes care of visibility and accessibility to the different car functions. The knobs and buttons are large and readable and are covered with a material that facilitates their manipulation even with gloves.
This panel includes six indicators with an 4.2 -inch color information center that has the information of the vehicle status, boarding computer and other information, such as radio and navigation.
Another aspect that has been taken into account when designing space is the provision of spaces to leave personal items, including a laptop. In addition, the 2014 Sierra is available with a 110 volt connection, with up to five USB ports, four outputs of 12 volts and an SD card input.
The Intellilink connectivity system uses a high -definition color touch screen, completely reconfigurable 8 inches of intuitive use and with easy -to -read icons that control the audio, the Pandora, Bluetooth application and navigation with new maps deployment. Many of the system characteristics can be controlled by voice commands, allowing the driver to keep his eyes on the road and hands on the steering wheel.
The 2014 Sierra seats have double density foam and high wear fabric, therefore they are designed to last longer and resist spots. Heating and standard heating seats with skin will be available.
New doors and configurations of the
2014 Sierra car has new front hinges for rear doors with outdoor handles, facilitating access to small parking spaces. Unlike pickups with rear opening doors, Sierra allows the back passengers to enter and leave the vehicle even with the closed opposite doors.
Innovations in the load box
The rear defense of Sierra has steps in the corners to facilitate access to the box, regardless of whether the back door is up or down. It also has four movable hooks that can be placed in nine different places and can support 500 lb of load. Within the load box, integrated under the rails, LED lights illuminate the box. The EZ Lift and the low back door are available and use an integrated torsion bar and an exterior to make it fall and rise easily.
Alert technology for
Sierra 2014 driver has a series of optional active safety features such as the frontal collision alert, which uses a front camera to notify the driver on an imminent collision or the lane abandonment alert, which uses the same camera to monitor the vehicle's position in relation to the road lines.
The driver seat vibration alert generates patterns of vibrant pulsations to the left and/or right in the lower part of the seat cushion, alerting the potential hazard driver, as a sudden change of lane or the approach too fast to another vehicle. According to GM investigations, the vibrations of the seats can direct driver's attention to the location of a potential collision more quickly and with greater precision than audible alerts. Drivers have the option to select between audible or vibrant alerts.
Silent, stronger, more aerodynamic
Sierra 2014 has new aerodynamic measures that benefit fuel efficiency and reduce wind noise. In addition, updates on the body and chassis of Sierra improve driving. The full frame of the box uses highly resistance steel to provide more rigidity with less weight. The new structure of the cabins incorporates high strength steel in pillars A, B; on the roof rails; In low panels and doors, while ultra-high steel segments resistance of lateral panels offer greater protection to compensate surface clashes.
Like its new block engines, the saw ceiling is aluminum, saving approximately 17 pounds against the steel component. In the back, the roll patterns formed in the box are stronger, light and more durable than the traditional stamped steel box.
Sierra uses aluminum in some suspension components to add stiffness and save weight. The lighter new wheels are accompanied by low resistance tires in most packages. The tires, together with the new assembly of redesigned hydraulic cabins are developed to reduce noise and vibration inside.
Attention to detail
GMC designers have added distinctive details such as high -range front lights available with accentuated LED light detailing the new grill. All Sierra models have chromed grill surrounded by black premium moldings. There will be different levels of equipment that have black chrome moldings in the mirrors and door handles, as well as unique designs on the wheels and details on the grill.
All -terrain all -terrain Model
The All Terrain version includes a unique exterior appearance with a painted and less chrome grill and is available with widespread cabin or CREW in a limited number of colors.
The all -terrain suspension Z71 with monotubo ranch for shock, control of descendant slope, recovery front hooks, transfer box shield and unique wheels, are standard; It also includes rear differential with automatic block that reacts in milliseconds in situations with little traction to improve safety and confidence in wet, snowy or mud surfaces.
Sierra All Terrain is available exclusively with interior in ebony and frontal cube seats on SLE models. The carbon fiber finishes in the seats are standard in SLT models.
